Management Walkabout (MWA)

Image
Years ago, my boss taught us an important concept, "Management Walkabout."           This is applicable in different aspects of life including that of a Member of Parliament. I choose to write this piece, especially because of the recent announcement by Damansara MP, Tony Pua why he would not be contesting in Damansara.                     If he did not bow out, he knew that many of the constituents would go out to vote or even campaign against him. I am one who agreed to the use any platform open to me to speak out against his incumbency.           The smart alec has told everyone that it is not the job of an MP to look at public drains, garbage and potholes.  Elected by the People, but Not with the People             Let me remind Pua that, while it is true that the MPs should be looking at the national issues, it is the public drains, garbage and potholes that affect people's lives the most.  Being with the people when they have an issue is the way an MP shows he car

Goodbye Tony Pua

Goodbye Tony Pua!           In politics, you will learn that you  won't get very far when you choose to ignore your voters who voted you. Never think that you are "the best" MP in town.           Now, your pride has also brought you to a downfall. I hope it is hard hitting enough for you to feel the pain, but not to break your spirit. As long as you learn to be humble, we may consider giving you a second chance, but it is very unlikely that people will want you anymore.            We will see how Gobind performs on the ground to solve issues affecting the constituents. If he puts in more DAP goons as councillors, and when they misbehave or fail to carry out their job, and Gobind gives a deaf ear to complaints like you did, even Gobind son of Karpal Singh will also be trounced. But, if he is on the ground like Charles Santiago, he will be well-received by the people.           To be fair to you, Tony, I knew that you were already told to stay out of this GE15. The reason

Chill it off at Sg Chiling

What a beautiful sight indeed!  I wonder why it must take the public to highlight their complaints about how dirty out local tourist spots are before the local councils finally place the enforcement officers.         When I first highlighted this issue at Templer's Park and another post on  Sg Chiling based on the input from a friend of mine, she was disappointed that she could not visit the place. Perhaps, it was under renovation.           She had earlier gone to  the Templer's Park and found it to be dirty with rubbish strewn all over. Facilities were in bad shape.           But look at the cheer you see on her face when she sent me these pictures and videos about the park at Sungai Chiling. Credit to whom credit is due. This is, after all, what the rakyat expect.  This reminds me a bit about my experience at Banjaran Resort                             Instead of wasting so many hours allocating quarry land within forest reserve and fighting environmental non-governmen

Tony Pua not the Longkang MP?

Image
Tony Pua may think that he won the general election in 2008 against former Member of Parliament, Chew Mei Fun because he was right that the MP's job was not to look at people's drains, illegal dumps, and so on.          Let me put this point blank to him and other elected representatives of his kind that I am not the only one complaining about not being on the ground when there are issues.            It is hard to say that you are a MP for the people, elected by the people, without being with the people until there is a general election.         It is no wonder that even DAP Selangor have kicked him out of Selangor and the DAP central committee. He has to retreat into his own cave and start meditating again to get the answer why he was rejected by DAP in Selangor. I would be surprised if the party leadership still nominate him as candidate for any seat.           The picture above shows a drain grating cover that gone missing. Despite highlighting it to senior DAP members, no

Left Abandoned for Months Now, Yet No Solution...

Image
Work is supposed to start in March and completed by July 2022.          However, now is already October 2022, but nothing is completed and the mess is left unattended. Someone must be sleeping on the job again.           October 2022 is already coming to an end, yet the work abandoned is creating a nuisance to the shopowners. Tell me who is responsible?             The last thing I want to see is a tai chi response like this -- and I have to chastise without naming the Yang Berhormat from the same party as Ng Sze Han, Calvin Cheong and Tony Pua:           What the rate payers want is : Get the job done! Find a solution. The last thing we want to hear is some rhetoric.                Is this because the contractor was not paid? Is it because the contractor had too many jobs? Is it because someone had failed to supervise the job? Is it because the local councillor is sleeping on the job? Maybe, the Head of Department? The YDP is overall in charge. Is there any disciplinary measure taken?

Well done, Tuan Fok Wai Mun, MPS and KDEB!

Well done, Tuan Fok Wai Mun, MPS and KDEB!            Back in July, when I posted this photograph, Wai Mun asked for the car registration number. I chided him if  Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) had done anything to the earlier photograph that was posted by a resident, and there was silence.          But, at least Wai Mun has done what he needed to do as a councillor and not remain silent and do nothing.           Because of the lack of enforcement by MPS on illegal dumps in the area, KDEB has to clear up the dumps. I pity these workers.           But the latest follow up I did this morning when I happened to pass by the area shows that Wai Mun and MPS have at least done something which appears effective.                     The place looks clean. At least cars can park in the area.           Well done to Wai Mun, MPS and KDEB. It takes cooperation on all sides to solve the problem of illegal dump. It should not just the KDEB's job to clean up after the dumpsters throw their rub

You can afford to ignore, but we will have to harp on these issues until they are solved

Dated 18 October 2022 (about 1.00pm) CALVIN CHEONG (from Parti DAP), the local councillor of Zone 23 has to answer this question why the rubbish management in the zone under the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) is poorly done.                 Cheong is a political appointee under Damansara MP Tony Pua. This is the second councillor appointed by Pua since GE14 in 2018.                    This, despite complaints also going to Pua and State Assemblywoman, Elizabeth Wong, nothing is done to solve the problem that was highlighted in The Star Metro  on May 10 this year. Instead, what  Cheong is doing is just 'syok sendiri' when he organised his " Taklimat Kesedaran. " It is as though people have all the time just sitting down to listen to him.          The irony is Cheong's own service centre is located just a few meters from where the garbage is dumped indiscriminately. If Penang could provide every household on the island a proper garbage bin, why is MPS not provi
