Perancang (Town planner) of MPS has a lot of explanation to do

For the past 20 years, we have never questioned the Perancang (Town Planner) of Selayang Municipal Council (MPS). Because of that, we are now seeing places like Aman Puri becoming a mess once the traffic volume increases.

Looking at the traffic flow at Desa Aman Puri, it already appears very confusing, what's more, on the road.

For example, at Point 1 (on the map) highlighted above, traffic from four different directions flow into one junction. If a bus stops or blocks the way, the area gets congested. This is worsened during festive seasons when MPS approves the stalls selling Chinese New Year goodies here.

By doing one-way street, this has worsened the traffic flow. Instead of allowing traffic from Persiaran Perdana to flow naturally, they are diverted to Jalan Desa 1/5 and Jalan 16 before joining back to Persiaran Perdana.

Even when traffic joins back to Jalan 16, the local council has placed a double line to disallow traffic from turning left into Jalan Desa 2/9 (Point 2). To get there, they would have to join back Persiaran Perdana (which is already congested during peak hours) and make a U-turn.

Point 3. Now, assuming that you want to get to Jalan Desa 2/7, after making the U-turn, you will have to follow the traffic (which is already congested) because they have turned Jalan Desa 2/8. With no enforcement, cars are parked indiscriminately along the road for free parking.

Meanwhile, you will have to travel at snail pace along Jalan Desa 2/2 and wait as cars will be reversing or waiting to park here. Finally, you turn back into Jalan Desa 2/9 which you could have done earlier. What a mess!

And not to forget, for people who exiting from Jalan Aman, you have to make a U-turn to get out onto the side of Persiaran Perdana. This is what creates unnecessary congestion during peak hours as there are traffic from this one U-turn and traffic from Desa Jaya/Taman Ehsan and the rest of Aman Puri joining Persiaran Perdana at the junction with Jalan 16.

If this is how good our Perancang is, I am wondering if we are living in the 21st century! Why can't the local council get its act together? After knowing the problem, what is the State Exco and its Menteri Besar doing about it? Allow people to continue to suffer under poor town planning?

When a local council can call this 'built to specifications,' and allow two humps before a security gate, I wonder who we have at Perancang all these years. The mark at the middle of the hump shows that it has many cars lower deck would have hit the hump.

Hello, what has two humps before the security gate to do with "slowing" down traffic before reaching the security gate? What kind of logic is this, MPS? It sometimes appears that, at its whims and fancies, roads can be turned into one-way streets without giving too much consideration to actual need. A makeshift car wash can also appear out of nowhere on a few carparks on Jalan Desa 2/9.
