This drain was finally fixed after the MP pushed the button on the local council and its councillor. Why does it have to be that way? Local councillors and local council staff are paid a salary to do the job.
For the past few years, we have had local councillors who are operating like the ones before 2008. This is the problem after PH has been in power for 15 years in Selangor. A new MB should be appointed, and a new state exco should be set up. Local councils should be headed by YDPs who are always on the ground, not like the YDP of MPS and the heads of departments who received Whatsapp photographs and complaints and does nothing about the complaints. This is what prompted me to start this blog a few years ago.

(This blogpost was delayed 2 weeks because Gobind asked for time to resolve the issues yet a few issues which he asked for as a matter of priority have yet to be resolved. I have asked and informed him on two occasions on June 16 and 21 that nothing has since been resolved. I know he may be busy but for goodness sake, please look for a better councillor to do the job if the present one keeps failing to deliver the job. We don't care how highly you think of your councillor, we only care that problems on the ground are solved. If such councillor is promoted to become a canddiate for state assembly, my family and I and many others will vote for the opposition. We want PH if PH performs. Period!)
After hacking the drain here, MPS just left the drain unrepaired since early 2023.
You can tell that I am starting to lose my patience now after many months -- and in some cases, several years of follow up using different channels including STAR, emails / letters, Whatsapp communications, blog, yet many things remain unresolved -- and the list keeps piling up because efforts were not taken to solve earlier issues.
This is what happens when a political party become too complacent when put in position of power since 2008. This is what is happening in the State of Selangor. Hopefully with the new Menteri Besar, the issues on the ground will be given priority instead of billion Ringgit stadium, and other mega projects which are meaningless to most Selangorians.
Out of frustrations, I am sharing with you what transpired over the past three years.
We have started highlighting a number of unresolved issues. Some of these issues have been highlighted to the local council through a series of letters and emails, which were copied to both the then Member of Parliament Tony Pua and State Assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong, State Exco Ng Sze Han and Menteri Besar Amirudin Shaari, as well as two separate councillors appointed by the DAP.
With a change of MP, Gobind Singh Deo, we were hoping that the situation would improve. In fact, I recommended to the newly elected MP of Damansara that if he were to come down to the ground to solve the issues faced by the people, by GE16, he would not need to campaign. So far, I have only met up with him once. The second meeting has been postponed a couple of times.
I have to say this that in Selangor, things have deteriorated to the point that DAP is no longer the same as it used to be. In fact, I have mentioned to friends that DAP is now just as bad as MCA before 2008. Gerakan in those days was slightly better compared to MCA. In a meeting with a very senior DAP leader, I have also mentioned my frustrations with the way things are happening with his party. I hoped that he would advise his people to be on the ground more and solve people's problems.
Many of the following issues have been highlighted on NOT ONCE but a number of occasions via Whatsapp to Gobind. Being the son of the late YB Karpal Singh, I was expecting that he would be different compared to his predecessor, but I am equally disappointed now that after repeatedly sent to him the list of complaints at his request, the issues are still not solved. This blog post was supposed to have been done a couple of weeks ago, but to give him a chance to get his men to solve the issues, I decided to hold back. He asked for just a few key issues that can be fixed fast, and I picked only a few. Even that, till today, not a single issue has been fixed including this:
It should not take too much effort to cover this hole or get the IWK contractor to resurface the road after they did the repair job at least two months ago! I have told him on a number of occasions that he needs a good councillor to do the job on the ground. Each time I was asked to forward him the series of photographs but the issues are still not solved. As time passed more issues cropped up. The banner is a big wastage of public funds. No one cares who the local councillor is! Both Gobind and Elizabeth Wong had already put up their banners. A third set of banners by the local councillor for the festive season was put up by the local councillor. The money should have been properly spent on fixing the issues on the ground.
This banner, for example, was left there until around early June when I highlighted it to Gobind about the signboard for the area which was relocated from its original position to a most ridiculous location by the Selayang Municipal Council.
Cars turning from the junction would not be able to see the signboard. What's the use of the signboard then?
Can you see the signboard if you are a visitor for the first time to this location (below)? Would it not be a better location if it were to be placed on the opposite side of the road so that the signboard can be seen clearly?
Most of the signboards placed by MPS are always some obscure locations, serving no purpose --- AND A SHEER WASTE OF FUNDS! And when highlighted, they would just claim that "investigation carried out. Everything is within specifications or placed in the right location. Case closed." Why are the councillors not doing what they are supposed to do? Instead, wasting time doing own banners and printing them using public funds?
Two humps built on Jalan W1/1 (at No 66 and 40) as well as the one near the guard house are much steeper than most humps, and cars with lower deck would hit the hump especially when you have four persons in the car. All it takes is just putting some tar to make the hump less steep -- and that takes how long? I am still waiting for the same job to be done to the other humps. Previously, he said only to focus on this, do the rest later. When?
Look at this issue brought up by the owner of the restaurant. He spent money to put the metal covers over the drain. All he is asking is to make sure that the local council fix the drain cover but when the councillor went to see him, nothing has happened since then. How long does it take to get the standard drain covers?
Look at the condition of the padang. It has been highlighted many times even in this blog itself.
No thanks to MPS, senior citizens better be careful when they do their morning walk here. This path has been there for nearly 30 years since it was first built.

Efforts should be made to relocate the traders to a more suitable place instead allowing these stalls to spring up everywhere without proper control. A number of car wash outlets have started to mushroom in the past few years. Why is my suggestion to relocate them to suitable places not being looked into?
Please, for goodness sake, find suitable places for them to cari makan not setting up car wash on public parking lots and damaging the roads. No proper outlet for the water and detergent. Is this the way how MPS manages the area?
This junction below has cars crisscrossing from at least 4 or 5 directions! One-way streets are no longer a solution as cars are only circulating within the area instead of being given various options to exit the area.
It is really time for the Ministry of Local Government Development to put its focus on solving the issues faced by ratepayers with the third tier of government. I campaigned against MCA and the BN state government before 2008 because of the lackadaisical attitude of the local council and the politicians who were supposed to look into the ground issues.
Should I also do the same thing now? Come on, guys! We voted you to do a better job! Surely, you do not want to win the Malaysia Book of Records for being the worst state in Malaysia. Just take a look at how the pasar malam at KIP is run? Where are the dustbins for the traders? Why Thailand can manage their night markets well but not SELANGOR?
MB Amirudin and State Exco, Ng Sze Han, 😡 when will you go down to the ground like PMX is doing? Staying up on your ivory tower will not solve the problems on the ground. That is why Selangor has gone from bad (during Azmin Ali's era) to worse now.
How long can we tolerate all this?
